Not enough green interiors in this world. Or brown. My first car had a brown interior, and other than singeing my legs on hot SoCal days, I liked it.

What I like about that interior is the instrument cluster.

I always loved the wacky interior color options on the first-gen Lancia Y/Ypsilon :D

My first car was a 1984 Oldsmobile with brown velour interior.  It was the comfiest car I will ever sit in.

If I were president I would demand that car companies bring back full color interiors.

They wouldn’t have to listen to me, but I’d go it anyway. After all the prez is allowed to say any crazy thing he/she  wants right?

I love that classic Benz cluster as well. Audi also had a good dash around the same time that’s still amongst my favorites, even if it did have GM HVAC controls:

But there will always be those without any taste that will bugger up a classic dashboard and interior:

As far as in-car entertainment is concerned, we’ve come a long way from the cocaine- fueled ‘80s...

As one of your automotive policy advisors, I would implore you to d o the opposite of Tesla and make a black interior a high  extra cost option.

This is good advice. Altho it would creat the idea that all black interiors are more PREMIUM which would make the sheep like masses want it even more. You simply can’t win.

Well then we’ll have to artificially limit supply and make the premium high enough to pay off the national debt. A fool and his money...

I don’t like Beamers much as a rule, but I do like the e36/3-series a lot, and they had one of my favorite instrument clusters of any car:

The E32 and E34, like I drove, had a similar but perhaps even better cluster, although lacking most of the extra gauges found on the Audi and Benz. Pretty much any German- made German car in the late ‘70s through the mid 2000s had a great cluster.

Kinja'd!!!

As much as I loved driving my Rabbit GTI, as well as loving that interior color, I absolutely hated the gauges, much preferring those in the German- made cars. Even my old Dasher had a better interior:

Or blue, which almost seems extinct these days, save for some trim (unfortunately, on older MBs, the blue dash pads seem extra prone to cracking).   However, a dealer in my region has an E coupe with an unusual and fun interior:

I recently picked up an E wagon with a brown on brown on brown interior (pic from dealer listing, haven’t got around to my own gallery):

I think that top one is beginning to get too busy.

I am very familiar with that Rabbit interior and at a glance at your picture here, my first thought was, Ew , though I was a big fan of the Rabbit during those years. My dad had one, an ‘81 I believe, that had a few problems, but my brother and I enjoyed driving it. 4-speed though...

Dasher was an interesting car. I owned a late-70s Audi 100 when I was stationed in Germany and the dasher used the Audi 80/100 drive train, without all of the kitsch that came with the Audi 5000 later on, and only the 5-cylinder engine. But you have to love the readability and the simplicity of the Dasher you posted above. Get the job done, and not a lot of froo-froo to go and see the mechanic about.

They’re all Alcantara! :D

I like interesting design choices...a lot of people think the first-gen Ypsilon is ugly and weird, and it probably is, but it’s an interesting little car, and it’s Punto-based if memory serves, so reasonably reliable / easy to get parts for and stuff! :)

I think the blue and the green are my favorites! :D
